Chicago’s #1 SPORTS Talk Radio!!!!  AM1240 and AM1470

The Morning Break Crew

The Morning Break Crew is a strange bunch…Throw in a “Big Dog”, a “Swamp Ratt”, a “Fox”, One “Bad Boy”, and then to cool these guys off, toss in an “Ice Man”.  Wow that can be a interesting bunch, but wait……if we let that go the way it is, that can get nasty. There is one individual that can only lead that bunch…only one man can take this bunch to the top, and that is “THE COACH”!!   Now you ask who are these guys, well get to know your “Morning Break Crew” below and feel free to email them, or better yet call them on the show at 773.792.1240. Monday - Friday 10am to 12noon.

Jon “The Coach” Cohn — Host

Jon is 50 years old, married with 2 children and a wife of 14 years. He has been the Morning Break host for all 5 years the show has been on the air, and also currently announces high school sports for Comcast Television. In Addition he is owner and Director of JC Sports and Tees Inc.

The “Coach” as he is known on the show, has been a high school and youth sport coach in the area for over 30 years, and is currently head varsity coach for girls basketball at North Shore Country Day School in Winnetka.

Previously the “Coach’ hosted weekend overnights on The Score Sports Radio AM670, and was the host on the Award Winning program — Naked Truth About Sports on WCBR 92.7.

Currently The “Coach” resides in the northern suburbs in Illinois, and continues to search for the “Real Meaning Of Life” ………… And More Listeners!!!

Joel “Big Dog” Radwanski — Co-host

Joel was born and raised in Chicago, but he spent his high school years at Downers Grove North.  He’s a hardcore fan of the Cubs, Bears, Bulls and the Fighting Illini.

David Kaplan of WGN discovered Joel in 2001 selling shoes at Nordstrom on Michigan Ave.  After interning at WGN, Joel did a Saturday afternoon show called “The Thirty Minute Shot Clock” on 1240am. This was the summer of 2002 and where the connection of the “Coach” and the “Big Dog” began.  In September of that year, Joel began co-hosting on “The Morning Break” with Coach.  Since then Coach has been spreading the truth and Joel has been passing the gas.

Joel is a true walking sports almanac.  There isn’t a league champion or Mvp that he hasn’t pondered as he dreamt himself to sleep.  He was able to cash in on his expertise by becoming the all-time money winner on the ESPN TV game show, “Stump the Schwab.”   Many early fans of “The Morning Break” may recall his bit “Stump the Pole.”   This was a take off of WGN’s DR. Stupid.  The game is to stump Joel with any sports trivia after 1980.  Believe it or not he came up with the name before ESPN’s “Stump the Schwab.”   I guess Coach was right, they were listening.

Sports are not the only things that occupy Big Dog’s mind.  He is a Patriot and believes in the ideals of a free capitalist society.  He hopes that one day American businesses can defeat Global warming and a dependence on foreign fuel by coming up with a renewable energy source.

Brian “Bad Boy” Bauer — Part-Time Co-Host

Brian Bauer comes from the Chicagoland radio and television market where he spent five years working mostly in sports media production with Disney Regional Entertainment for shows such as ESPN's SportsCenter, ESPNNews and ESPN’s Cold Pizza. He also was the co-host of “The Morning Break” on WSBC/WCFJ. A Sports/Entertainment radio show based in the west side of Chicago.

Bauer went to Northeastern Illinois University and graduated from DePaul with a degree in Communications. Brian currently resides in Chicago with his wife Theresa.

Frank “Beans” Barber — Part time Co-host

Born 4/16/1971 and raised in Evanston, Class of 89’ at E.T.H.S.  Beans was in the US Army from 1990 – 93, Stationed in Korea for 1 year and Ft. Campbell, 101st Airborne Division for 1 year.

“Beans” graduated from UIC and majored in Communications. Frank says the best time he looks forward too is the 2 hours he is on the show, sharing his knowledge about sports with Chicago.

Kevin “The SwampRatt” Horan — Executive Producer

Kevin “Swampratt” Horan started in the radio business July 18, 1979 as a afternoon jock at WRIN 1560AM, in Rensselear, Indiana. “Jeff West” was also sports director.
